Reset a Hub to new

A reset wipes everything on the Hub, its identity too, and it starts again unclaimed. Do it from the web page, the app, or the Hub's own terminal.

What goes and what stays

  • Goes: cameras, walls, events, recordings, settings, every paired device, and the Hub's identity.
  • Stays: the Hub software, and any other files on the recording disk.
  • The Hub starts again unclaimed, with a new identity and its setup QR on its screen.
  • It cannot be undone.

From the web page

  1. 01Sign in and open Overview.
  2. 02Under Maintenance, press Reset next to Reset this Hub.
  3. 03Type the Hub's name to confirm.
  4. 04The Hub wipes itself and restarts. Scan the new QR on its screen to set it up again.

From the Hub's own terminal

Use this when no device that used the Hub is left.

  1. 01Sign in to the Hub machine over SSH, or with a keyboard and screen.
  2. 02Run: sudo sehub reset --yes
  3. 03A running Hub resets itself and restarts. A stopped one is wiped on the spot: start it again with sudo systemctl start sehub.

Its seat on your Pro plan

Before it wipes itself, the Hub asks the licence server to free its seat. If it cannot reach the server, free the seat from the app, under Hubs on your Pro plan. Every device that used the Hub has to set it up or pair with it again.

Reset your Hub from the app

Wipe the Hub to new, for a fresh start or a new owner. The app says exactly what goes before it does anything.
