Moving a camera, and turning its light on
Pan, tilt and zoom, spotlights, night vision and why a control is missing on one camera and present on another.
What the app asks each camera
Every camera is asked what it can do rather than assumed from its brand, and the answer is kept in three states rather than two. Supported means it said yes. Unsupported means it said no. Unknown means we could not ask, usually because the camera was offline or refused the query.
That distinction is why a row is sometimes greyed out with a reason attached. A control the camera genuinely lacks should not invite you to retry; one we could not ask about should.
Pan, tilt and zoom
PTZ appears where the camera has motors and exposes them over ONVIF. A pan-and-tilt dome with no zoom is shown as exactly that rather than given a zoom control that does nothing.
A camera on a Hub is asked by the Hub, because the Hub is the machine that can reach it once cameras sit on their own network.
Spotlights and microphones
A visible white light is almost always a vendor feature rather than an ONVIF one, so it goes over each brand's own API. Reolink, Hikvision, Dahua, Amcrest, Foscam, Axis and Tapo are among those paired.
A camera whose brand has no paired API gets no spotlight control at all, which is the honest answer: white-label boards generally have no documented way to ask.
Infrared and the IR-cut filter are ONVIF Imaging, so they work far more widely than the visible spotlight does.
