Video won't play or keeps stopping

Bad paths, unsupported formats, session limits, bandwidth, long keyframes and decoder glitches.

No playable stream

  1. 01Use Re-detect streams so ONVIF fetches fresh profile URLs.
  2. 02Confirm RTSP is on in the camera. Test the URL in another player if you can.
  3. 03Enter the vendor's RTSP path by hand if ONVIF returns nothing usable.
  4. 04Set the camera to H.264 or H.265. MJPEG won't play.

Stops, stutters or starts slowly

  • Close another viewer if the camera hit its session limit (SE-STRM-004).
  • Pick the grid substream or lower the bitrate if bandwidth is tight (SE-STRM-005).
  • Set up a real low-res substream. A 4K "substream" defeats the point of a grid.
  • Shorten a very long keyframe interval. The app has to wait for a keyframe before video appears.
  • Tapo flashing green? Switch that camera to software decoding.
Auto recovery

When a stream drops, the app retries. If it keeps failing, something about the camera, path, network or encoder still needs fixing.
