Choose the main stream or the substream
Set which stream each camera plays, for this view or for good, and the app-wide default.
What the streams are
Most cameras send a main stream at full resolution and a substream at a lower one. The substream uses less network and memory.
By default every camera plays its substream. Walls with more than 4 tiles always use the substream, whatever you choose, unless you saved a stream for that camera.
Set the default for every camera
- 01Choose More, then Cams & Streams.
- 02Under Streaming defaults, set Grid stream quality to Substream, Main or Auto.
- Auto plays the main stream on Live and on walls of up to 4 tiles, and the substream on denser walls.
- Main behaves the same way, because walls of more than 4 tiles always use the substream.
Pick a stream for one camera
A stream you pick here is saved for this camera on Live and on every wall, including walls of more than 4 tiles. A camera with one stream shows the buttons dimmed.
The same choice is on the camera's settings page, under Video, Live view quality. For a camera with one stream, that row says “This camera offers a single stream.”
- 01Choose Live, then the camera.
- 02Choose Settings under the picture.
- 03Under Stream view, choose one of the camera's streams, or Auto to follow the default.
Try a stream in full screen only
- 01Open the camera full screen.
- 02Choose a stream chip at the bottom. This does not change the camera's setting.
- 03To keep it, choose Make default. It appears whenever the stream on screen is not saved as the camera's default, which is always the case until you save one.
