Listen to a camera

Turn sound on

1. 01Choose Live, then the camera.
2. 02Choose the speaker button under the picture. It reads Muted while the sound is off.
3. 03The button changes to Unmuted, a message says Audio on, and a wave moves across the bottom of the picture.
4. 04Choose it again to turn sound off.

• If the camera has no player yet, you see Camera is still starting up. Try again once the picture appears. While the picture is still loading, sound starts when the picture does.
• Only one camera plays sound on Live. Switching camera or opening full screen turns it off. On iPhone and iPad, opening the wall turns it off too.
• In full screen, use the speaker icon at the top (Unmute or Mute). Full screen always opens muted.
• The wall and Mac wall windows never play sound.

If you hear nothing

1. 01Open the camera's settings page: on Live, choose Settings, then Advanced Settings.
2. 02Choose Camera Features and read the Audio row. It says whether the camera sends sound, and if not, why. A camera with a microphone that sends no sound usually has audio switched off in its own settings.
3. 03If Spotlight and microphone on the same page shows a Record audio switch, turn it on. That switch decides whether the camera puts its microphone's sound into the video. (The other Record audio switch, lower down, is about recordings and does not change what you hear.)
