Find your way around

SecureEyes has five items in its navigation, in this order: Live, Events, Add, Clips and More. Add and More open a short menu instead of a page.

The layout follows the size of the window. When its shorter side is 600 points or more, you get the wide layout; otherwise the phone layout.

• iPhone: the phone layout, with the navigation as a bar at the bottom.
• iPad: the wide layout, with the navigation as a dock floating at the bottom. In a narrow Split View window an iPad uses the phone layout.
• Mac: the wide layout, plus a menu bar. A Mac window made smaller than 600 points on its shorter side switches to the phone layout. See Mac menu bar and keyboard shortcuts.
• To hide the words under the icons, choose More, General, and turn off Navigation labels.

Switch between cameras

Live shows one camera at a time, large, with every camera listed so you can switch. To see all cameras at once, see Show all your cameras on a wall.

• iPhone: choose a thumbnail in the strip above the picture, or swipe the picture left or right. The strip appears once there is more than one camera.
• iPad and Mac: choose a camera in the list on the left (titled Live cameras on a Mac and Cameras on iPad), or use the arrows at the sides of the picture. On iPad you can also swipe the picture.
• On iPad and Mac, each row shows the camera's name and address. A camera in trouble shows Loading, Reconnecting, Offline with its address, or Stream refused instead. See Video won't play or keeps stopping.
• The number under the list title counts the cameras in the list, not the ones playing.

The controls under the picture

• Light: the camera's spotlight or night vision. See Move a camera and turn its light on.
• Muted or Unmuted: sound from this camera. See Listen to a camera.
• Snapshot: save a still. See Take a snapshot and save it to Photos.
• Record: start a recording of this camera. It opens the recording screen.
• Settings: quick camera settings (below). On an extra tile this button is Remove instead. See Give a second lens its own tile.
• Pan & Zoom: move the camera, when it can. Dimmed when it cannot.
• In a location with a Hub: Watch back beside Pan & Zoom on iPhone, or the Live and Playback switch above the picture on iPad and Mac, opens recorded footage.

Quick camera settings

1. 01Choose Settings under the picture. On iPhone it opens as a sheet; on iPad and Mac it opens beside the picture and stays open while you switch cameras.
2. 02Under Stream view, pick which stream this camera plays, or Auto, and how the picture fills the frame: Fit, Fill or Stretch.
3. 03Under This camera, turn Hardware decoding on or off, set Motion border and motion detection, and change the camera's Location and Notifications.
4. 04Choose Reconnect to reopen the stream now, or Remove Camera to delete it.
5. 05Choose Advanced Settings for the camera's full settings page.

What the picture shows

• A red frame around the picture means motion was detected. This needs Motion border, which is on by default on Standard and Pro.
• To show the stream's numbers in a corner of the picture, choose More, Cams & Streams, and turn on Stream statistics under Tile overlays. It is off by default.
• A wave across the bottom of the picture means this camera's sound is on.

Look closer

• On iPhone and iPad, pinch with two fingers on the picture to zoom in. It springs back when you let go.
• Choose the expand button at the bottom right of the picture, or double tap (on a Mac, double-click) the picture, to open the camera full screen. See Open a camera full screen.

No cameras yet

An empty location shows No cameras in this location yet and an Add Cameras button, which opens the network scan. On iPad and Mac the camera list is hidden until there is a camera to list.

To move a camera you already have into this location, open it on Live, choose Settings, then Location.

Locations

On Standard and Pro, Live shows the cameras of one location at a time, unless Group Live by location is on. On iPhone, pick the location from the chip at the top of Live. On iPad and Mac, use the Location field above the camera list. The picker opens once you have two or more locations. On Free every camera is in one list. See Group cameras into locations.
