When your plan changes or a subscription lapses

The rule

SecureEyes never deletes a camera, a password, an event or a clip because of your plan. When a plan ends, features lock and cameras over the new limit pause. Buying or restoring the plan again unlocks everything, except a Hub that was handed back, which has to be paired again.

No internet for a while

Your plan keeps working offline. SecureEyes checks with the App Store in the background. With no contact, it keeps the last plan the App Store confirmed for 45 days. After that it works as Free until it can check again, and every camera keeps streaming.

A renewal payment fails

SecureEyes cannot see whether Apple is still retrying a failed renewal. When a monthly plan passes its renewal date without a payment, SecureEyes treats the plan as ended (see A plan ends). If Apple collects the payment later, the plan comes back as soon as SecureEyes hears about it, with no restart.

A plan ends

When the App Store confirms that your Apple ID no longer owns the plan, SecureEyes applies the change. A change it finds while the app is running waits until SecureEyes is next started. A refunded purchase grants nothing.

If you drop to Free

• Cameras over 3 pause. Paused cameras keep their settings, sign-in, events and clips.
• App lock stops locking.
• iCloud sync stops. The cards under Channels in Sync & Devices show Included with Standard.
• Send setup and Receive setup lock.
• Motion events stop and the Motion border is off.
• Subnets you added under Subnets to scan stay listed but are not scanned.
• Live shows the cameras of every location in one list.
• A layout that needs Standard shows as 2×2.

If Pro ends

• If you keep Standard, cameras over 16 pause. With no other plan, everything under If you drop to Free applies as well.
• This device hands its Hub back and says The Hub was handed back. Everything already recorded stays on the Hub's disk.
• If the cameras were on the Hub's own network, each one needs its sign-in again before it plays.
• With iCloud sync on, the message adds Your cameras sync through iCloud from now on.

Choose which cameras stay live

When cameras are paused, Settings > About shows Cameras on this plan, with the names under LIVE and PAUSED. Until you choose, the first cameras in your library stay live. With iCloud sync on, your choice applies on your other devices too.

2. 02Under Cameras on this plan, choose Choose cameras.
3. 03To pause a live camera, choose Pause beside it. On iPhone, or in a narrow window, you can also swipe a live row to the left.
4. 04To start a paused camera, choose Start. When the plan is full the button reads Swap in: choose the live camera to pause in its place, then choose the button that reads Pause {paused} · start {started}, with the two camera names.
5. 05Choose Done. Changes apply as you make them.

Upgrade again

Buying or restoring a plan unlocks everything at once, with no restart. Paused cameras stream again, and settings you had turned on, such as app lock and iCloud sync, apply again. If app lock was on, SecureEyes locks at once and asks you to unlock. A Hub that was handed back has to be paired again: see Set up a Hub from the app.
