Sign-in rejected with the right password
Many cameras keep a separate account for apps. Create it on the camera, update the sign-in in SecureEyes, and wait out a lockout.
What you see
On Live, the camera shows CANNOT OPEN STREAM and its name followed by refused the stream. The line under it ends with Error SE-AUTH-001: the camera answered and refused the username and password. Test in a scan, and Test Connection on Add by IP address, say Sign-in rejected.
SecureEyes does not ask the camera again by itself, so a wrong password is not sent over and over until the camera locks its sign-ins.
Why the right password fails
Many cameras keep a separate local account for apps like SecureEyes. The login for the brand's own app, cloud or web page is not that account. The menus to create it are the camera maker's, and they differ by model and firmware.
- Tapo: a Camera Account made in the Tapo app. The TP-Link cloud login does not work. See TP-Link Tapo and VIGI cameras.
- Hikvision: turn on ONVIF and add an ONVIF user on the camera's web page. See Hikvision and HiWatch cameras.
- Dahua, Amcrest and Lorex: some models need an ONVIF account. See Dahua, Amcrest and Lorex cameras.
- Reolink: turn on ONVIF and add a user for SecureEyes. See Reolink cameras.
- While the camera refuses the sign-in, Connection & Access shows Signing in to a (brand) camera under Camera sign-in, with the steps for Reolink, Hikvision, Dahua and Tapo cameras.
Update the sign-in in SecureEyes
Create the account on the camera first, and keep its username and password to hand.
- On the refused camera, choose Sign in again. The camera's settings open. On iPad and Mac, choose Connection & Access in the list.
- The first row reads Not connected, followed by the reason, for example Sign-in rejected.
- Next to Camera sign-in, choose Update Sign-In. A box titled Sign in to with the camera's address opens.
- The fields hold the old sign-in. Clear them and type the account you created.
- Choose Connect. Sign-in saved for with the camera's name, and Reconnecting to check it., confirm it.
- Go back to Live. The camera plays again.
If the camera locked its sign-ins
Some cameras block sign-ins for a few minutes after several failed attempts, even with the right password. When the camera says so, the panel shows Error SE-AUTH-005 (Camera locked sign-ins) and a Retry button. Otherwise it still shows SE-AUTH-001.
- Save the right account first (above).
- Wait a few minutes.
- Choose Retry, or Sign in again and Connect.
Tapo and port 2020
A Tapo answers ONVIF on port 2020. SecureEyes tries 2020 by itself, so leave ONVIF port as it is: it reads Tried automatically.
On a device that follows another
Each device keeps its own camera sign-ins. On a device whose cameras are owned by another device through Sync, Update Sign-In still works.
